Mr Maran is 58-years-old and is working hard to turn his life around. He was recently discharged from a halfway house due to narcotics offences and is currently working long hours as a cargo driver. It has not been easy for Mr Maran since his discharge from the halfway house. He suffers from chronic dry cough, hypertension and asthma and due to his age, he is no longer as strong as he was once before.
Mr Maran deeply regrets his actions and is currently working hard towards rehabilitation and turning his life around. When we met Mr Maran, he spoke greatly about his fears for the future. The amount he earns as a cargo driver is not much and his 3-room HDB mortgage takes up half of his salary.
Help Needed- Give Hope
The rehabilitation of ex-offenders is long and often difficult as there are many issues affecting them. For Mr Maran, finances are his main source of worry. He has just started working hence, his finances are not yet stable. He is also working towards paying off his mortgage arrears that he has incurred while he was incarcerated.
Ray of Hope would therefore like to raise S$400 (S$200 x 2 months) to defray the costs of his living expenses while he works towards being stable in his job. Please give hope to Mr Maran while he works extremely hard to turn his life around!
